Sunday at the Sunbanks Music Festival

After the rain washed out the festival on Saturday afternoon, Sunday opened with a beautiful blue sky!

After a few days of partying hard, everyone was slow to rise even with the bright sun encouraging the party to restart. The morning began with Dark Side of the Moon playing, a Sunbanks tradition, before Billy Stoops got up to recap the festivities thus far. He announced today’s lineup, and thanked the musicians, staff, and attendees alike for contributing to what had been a phenomenal weekend so far!

Denice: I had turned in early the night before. I told Barb, our hostess, that I was never going to dance again with as much as we had been doing! Of course, that was a lie… But I was grateful to get some extra rest!

Zeek: After Denice headed to bed, I kept the party going late into the evening… And slept in a bit to recoup from a late night. I think Denice was just grateful for a couple extra hours of sleep! But come Sunday morning, we were ready to dance again!

Everyone was slow to get going Sunday morning, which left us with a relatively clear dance floor as the musicians took the stage. It eventually filled back up as other festival attendees emerged, ready to celebrate good music and company! We were eventually joined by Barb and her husband Milo, who even took a video of us dancing! I (Denice) think this is my favorite dance video from the whole weekend!

We had heard from a litany of phenomenal artists and bands! You can see the whole line up on the Sunbanks Music Festival site. My (Denice) favorite artist of the whole weekend was Kenny “Blue Boss” Wayne. This boss of the blues has a smooth and soulful sound that enchants anyone who listens! He was a treat to hear.

Sunday Evening and Closing out the Festival

As the day drew to a close on Sunday, so did much of the festival. The good weather held out and we enjoyed a beautiful evening as the music died down.

We had to thank everyone for a great evening!

After the sun went down, and Denice went to bed, many of us gathered for a makeshift after party. We sang together and enjoyed just a bit more great comradery around music before accepting the end of the evening and heading to bed. It may not have been music up on the main stage, but gathered around a couple guitars, singing together, was a great ending to this wonderful weekend.

Our impromptu after party location! We spent another 3 hours from 10pm to 1am with even more music and fun. Special thanks to R.C. and your RV for being a great host!

Sunday marked our last day enjoying the Sunbanks Music Festival. Monday morning it was time to pack up and head on home. Although we still stopped for a wonderful lunch on our way home!

I know we’ve said it before, but this was a phenomenal event, and we are so grateful to have been welcomed into the Sunbanks Music Festival family. We are already counting down the days to the September one! (105 days to go to be exact.)

So, for now, cheers to Billy Stoops, Leanne Trevalyan, Barb and Milo, and the Sunbanks Music Festival!

And keep an eye out for our next post… We are headed from one great event on to another one and can’t wait to share it with you!
