BANDEMIC

If there's anything we've learned…

The “shut down” based on the Corona-Virus had various impacts on each of us over the last 3 or so years. One thing I think we all experienced was a little more solitude. If you're a public performer, that’s a rough place to be.

During that time, a little group consisting of Jeff Mims, Kristen Marlo, James Coates, and Kurt Lindsay decided to broadcast group shows. Kristen recalls how they made sure to keep the required 6 feet apart during those times… which seem to me to be a lifetime ago.

This year was the 4th annual “Bandemic”. The setting was the backdrop you may have seen on one or another of the Facebook pages, a little country building front. Well that building front is actually the Mims’ chicken coop, and they don’t just have chickens back there … As the guitars were tuning we were pleasantly entertained with the CAW-ing of the rooster. I tell ya, he’s got some pipes on him. Through out the songs, and seemingly on queue, the rooster would drop in with a solo or little bit of harmony. I wish had a sound bite for you on this, because it was often almost too timely to be coincidence.

We went with some friends, Kim & Brian (not the music Dou).

And Denice made new friends

with the Mims’ black lab.

Of course we managed to get in a few dances, took some time to talk to the musicians, and just reveled in the enjoyment of being able to be together with our friends. This is something not to take for granted.

So the next time you have the chance to go see some live music, consider taking an extra moment to think about what the people around you and infront of you may have been going through during the last few years… and give a little extra smile, hug, or gratuity.

And we’ll see ya on the dance floor!
