UVA FUREM
It actually means grape smuggler, but to us it means guaranteed great wine.
WAugust wine wouldn’t have been complete without wines from UVA FUREM. A 100% service disabled veteran owned winery! A relatively new dog in the fight for Washington’s wine fans, bursting on to the scene with all nine yards loaded in April of 2020. Grapes are sourced from Washington and Oregon AVAs, especially enjoying working with small family operations (much like thier own)
The wines produced by UVA FUREM are quite amazing, and again… you can know that we will favor the bold.
Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, and Cab Sauv. are blended, kept separate, and handled with care to compliment the natural flavors while bringing out nuances that may escape a less bold attempt to knock your socks off.
Pinot Nior and Merlot aren’t missing from the armaments, and are occasionally paired with the heavy artilleries of Petit Verdot.
The Whites are nothing to sneeze at either. The Chardonnay, Viognier, and Rose are full of flavor, vim and vigor.
Aside from the wines, we were also there for the live music. We’d never hear of Alex Britton, but believe we’ll be looking for more! Playing a great set of highly dance-able (is that a word) songs from the 1960s to current, and a few mash ups that really worked well… they showcased the talent of all the band members and their love for the fun of playing.
The band was great, the wine was fantastic, and it was HOT! But we weren’t quite done yet…
Octopus Ballet had a performance at The Urban Elks, and it’s air conditioned, has ceiling fans and shade!
As always, the Octopus Ballet Trio was on point. The rhythm, the winds, and the vocals… what a combo.
As you can probably guess, we danced a few there too. Great music, a quick snack, and some great friends made this the perfect place to head after the Winery.
Well that would make for a pretty full Saturday… but, we still weren’t done.
One more stop for Saturday that we just couldn’t miss…
One of our favorite places and tow of our favorite faces…
The lack of vowels in the sign behind us may give it away…
The rarely imitated and never duplicated two Lew Crew…
Lew Schmngy at the Lake City Pub.
We didn’t have a whole lot left by the time we got there, but some of those songs just won’t let us stay in our seats. So a few more dances at stop three on a Saturday… taking advantage of the new tables and layout at Lakecity Pub in Lakewood, with some great Washington wine, and Pierce County heros.
So, here’s to making the rounds, meeting the friends, and getting in one more dance.
Well see ya on the dance floor
