September Trip to Vashon Island

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we love to reminisce about our year when we get towards the end of December! In that reminiscing, we realized we never shared about a fantastic day trip out to Vashon Island back in September.

We had been talking about finding somewhere to hike, and I (Denice) had heard about some great trails on Vashon Island. We used to have friends who live on the Island years ago, but we hadn’t been in more than a decade, and I always get excited for anything new(er) and an adventure!

The Island is gorgeous, and we explored Shinglemill Creek Trail in the morning. It is just a few miles in and out but was a great walk in the woods to explore the fresh air! Even better, we discovered some wineries at the trailhead including Vashon Winery!

After deciding to get some lunch, we stumbled on Palouse Winery. It had the greatest little patio and our son, Zak, loved the wine so much (as did we) that we decided to become members! Which gives us the perfect excuse to come back soon. And we really loved their red wines!

Altogether it was an awesome day exploring all the corners of the island including reveling in the beauty of God’s creations in nature and then enjoying the bounty of it through delicious food and good wine! Even navigating the ferry was a breeze as we hit the lines just right both on our way there and our way home.

We can’t wait to go back, and I’m sure we will have plenty of trips in the New Year! So, for now, cheers to adventure and enjoying fantastic spots right in our own backyard!
