New Venue Alert: Quarterdeck

Curtis Moore, another one of our favorite local musicians until he moved back to his hometown of Leavenworth and is now semi-local (which you may have heard about in previous posts), was playing at the Mill on the night before we left for Bluesfest at Sunbanks in Electric City. Of course, we had to go, and even got some of our other friends, Kim and Brian (not the musicians), to meet us there! We came to know them in the house at Sunbanks, and we quickly became friends. . . Well, that's not really the story here, but we can talk about that later.

Curtis Moore, that's the story for this post! We've seen him at The Mill of Milton, Lake City Pub, and now to that list add The Quarterdeck in Des Moines!

At the Mill Curtis Moore told the story of he & Ian Jones both being booked at The Quarterdeck, and being friends they decided to perform together! We've seen Ian Jones several times, and he's just released a new album: Results, Not Typical. Seeing these two at the same venue sounded too good to be true, but Curtis reassured us it was indeed happening. So, we discussed it with our friends Kim and Brian, and decided on it! On the night in question, we met at the Quarterdeck to enjoy the music, the million dollar view, a few dances, great weather, and a gorgeous sunset.

The Quarterdeck is definitely someplace we will be going back to, and Ian Jones and Curtis Moore are still at the top of our list of musicians to find in whatever area we happen to be in. MacKenzie at The Quarterdeck, keep up the great work with booking these gigs!

So, for now, cheers to favorite musicians at new places, great event managers, and time out with friends. Next time at the Quarterdeck, we'll see you on the dance floor!
