A Little more on our Leavenworth Getaway!

Earlier this month, we took Denice’s parents to Leavenworth for a week long getaway! We shared about our first few days of music on one of our last posts, East Bound and Down, but we thought we would share a little more about the whole week!

We love to stay in the condos at the Icicle Lodge, which is a great way to enjoy spending time with a small group of folks in a hotel setting, but not in a small hotel room. Plus, Leavenworth has some of our favorite wine tasting rooms and you can’t beat the scenery!

Wine Tasting

Back to the beginning - Patterson’s Cellar

It just so happened Billy Stoops was going to be playing at Patterson’s Cellars while we were there! Just like the first time we met him a couple years ago. Their red wine is delicious every time and the music is always fantastic, but Billy was a special treat!

Bergdorf’s

We spent a lovely afternoon tasting wine by the fire! Their reds are great but we enjoyed an especially delicious tasting of the mulled wine which was nicely warmed and spicey!

Rocky Pond Winery

One of our favorite tasting rooms in Chelan has been Rocky Pond, and they just added a tasting room in the Icicle Lodge! We love the food and wine alike!

While at the Rocky Pond tasting room on Sunday, we just so happened to bump into Curtis Moore, one of our other favorite musicians that we were introduced to during the singer songwriter night at The Mill! He used to be local to the westside but has since moved back to his hometown of Leavenworth. He had come in to hear the local musicians as well, and it was a fantastic treat bumping into him.

Tsillan Cellars

Speaking of Chelan, we took a day trip over to Chelan to visit Tsillan Cellars, one of our all time favorites, to pick up our wine order!

Psst, they JUST opened a tasting room in Woodinville for us over in Western Washington!

I (D) also fell in love with this beautiful fur baby, Bordeaux, that faithfully welcomes guests at the Boudreaux Cellars downtown tasting room. The lovely lady serving us wine became fast friends with us in our shared love of wine while telling stories. She told of how Bo (as he’s called) sometimes takes himself down to the river for a swim to cool off! Every wine there is our new favorite!

Out on the Town

Being at Icicle Lodge allows us to walk in to town and around the great trails! It was the perfect balance to wine tasting ;)

Every time we go to Leavenworth we have to take a picture at this store. Years ago we made our daughter watch a horror movie on Halloween called “Krampus”, (when she was in college). It was rated PG-13, and all the acting and special effects were so bad all of us were laughing. Well… except our daughter. She REALLY doesn’t like horror movies! But its turned into a great inside joke, and we send her this selfie every time. Don’t worry, we checked, she finds it funny too!

Ski Hill Park

We happened to find this fantastic music spot, Ski Hill Park! Older and Wiser, a band we had come across back in summer of ‘21 in Manson, were playing there, and we figured we needed to check it out. It was definitely a locals spot vibe, but after hitting all the intown spots throughout the week, folks were surprised but excited to see we had also made our way to the edge of town for this evening’s entertainment.

We got in a few dances (yes this photo is before we made it out there while we were still at the Icicle Lodge). We did make sure to be careful of the wine dogs, and especially the border collie who seemed to patrol as the “event security”, making rounds and keeping eyes on various families.

And of course, I (D) made friends with the dogs everywhere we went, including Ski Hill Park which was super dog friendly!

It was a great vacation with lots of fun stops! But 7 days away is definitely a long trip, and we were glad to be back home come the next Friday. But you can be assured we are already planning our next eastern Washington jaunt for some more great wine and dancing!

So, for now, cheers to Leavenworth!
