Dancing at Lake Chelan

One of our favorite parts of Eastern, WA is the ability to stumble upon fantastic live music. While there is plenty of good music on the west side, you normally have to plan when and where and show up an hour+ early to get a seat… But all week long in Chelan and Manson, when we were walking down the streets, we would come across fantastic music at great locations where we could pop-in for a drink and a few dances alike.

On Thursday afternoon, we strolled through the downtown area of Chelan and over to the farmer’s market at the nearby park. Much to our excitement there was a local artist set up to play for all those walking around. Dancing on the sidewalk on a whim can sometimes be a little challenging, but the opportunity to dance carefree in a park is not one we would pass up!

Now, the next one we did actually plan for and show up early to guarantee a seat, although there were tables that opened up at different points throughout the night. End of the Line, with Elaine Eagle and Ramiro Espinoza, was playing at Rocky Pond Tasting room in downtown Chelan. We are so glad we made sure to make it to this one because the music was fantastic! They are an incredibly talented duo! Space was a little tight… But we made do and had a great time! And we are always so appreciative of the friendly receptions we receive from both patrons and the musicians alike at so many of these events.

However, our experience at Alta Cellars is a quintessential example of stumbling into a fantastic event in Eastern, WA. We had been down the street, tasting wine at Skagit Cellars and Ancestry cellars, and were walking back up to our parked car. We heard the music, and it was just across from where we had parked. So, we had to take a moment to check it out! We grabbed a bottle of wine, and enjoyed the music for the last hour of the performance. We had a big open space on the side of the road next to the Alta Cellars pick-up truck stage. Everyone was so friendly and the musician was highly talented. We had a great time!

The dancing was fantastic, and so was the atmosphere at each of these places. But the most important lesson that can be learned is to just enjoy the opportunity anytime it comes along. Whether that be a crowded aisleway in a bar, the field at a park, or the sidewalk next to a makeshift stage. When you come across a chance to enjoy a dance, take it!

This even includes the small moments, like when I (Denice) have just gotten out of a shower and into sweats, and Zeek is getting the deck prepared for my parents to sit and relax…

So, for now, cheers to dancing whenever you have a chance!
