Getting a Haircut

For a lot of us fellas a haircut is something we need to do from time to time, and not really an event to look forward to.

Well between a new position in the office and a new hobby of being out on the town a “new look” was in order. After nearly 30 years of spending 40 plus hours a week under a hard hat my hairstyle was far less than a priority.

A FEW YEARS BACK, BUT YOU GET IT!

A business acquaintance purchased the Sport Clips franchise between Puyallup and Graham a while back(about 168th & Meridian Sport Clips, Puyallup), so about a year ago I figured I'd give it a try. I've been so pleased with the haircuts, friendly stylists, and the entire experience of getting a haircut there… I actually look forward to getting haircuts now.

When I first went to Sport Clips, a stylist named Natalie was the one who took care of me. I walked in with a beard & head of hair that was styled about like a lion's mane.

She asked me what I had in mind, and I told her “A new style”. I'd looked over a few pictures on the internet that were much like Russell Holmes from the Fast & Loud Discovery Channel show & Garage Rehab, and I kind of liked it. If you've seen “Russell the Muscle”, and knew me before my “new style” you'll realize that it wasn't gonna work. Thankfully, Natalie knew just what to do… and after a bit of conversation she got to work on my “poofy-do” with scissors, electric razor, gel, beard oil, and a host of other accoutrements I wasn't extremely familiar with.

After about 20 minutes of laughs, conversation, and some occasional hairstyle questions I looked in the mirror and realized that Natalie had done exactly what I wanted.. but didn't know how to describe.

Since then, Natalie and Lamora at Sport Clips have given me a few haircuts… and they've always been great!

Natalie gave me a haircut again recently.. and it was a great experience, a great haircut, and a fantastic value for the money. Getting a good haircut, well styled, and feeling good about a new look has made my day… and Denice was pretty happy about it too. Looking for a new style and discussing it with Denice to get her input and advice is a nice way to show that I’m getting into this new lifestyle… and truthfully, I enjoy it too.

So for now, cheers to a new style, a new experience, and another part of Killin’ the Empty Nest that opens up communication between Denice and I!
