A “Davine” Evening with Kurt Lindsey and Kristin Marlo

About two months ago we highlighted the fun we had at The Mill Steakhouse and Spirits 5th Anniversary party, with entertainment by Kurt Lindsey and Kristen Marlo, and just before that we’d caught Kurt at Lake City Pub. We’ve really been wanting to get a chance to see Kurt and Kristen together again, but the schedule just hasn’t quite worked out. Well low and behold, we saw that Saturday night the duo was playing in Maple Valley at Davine Whiskey and Wine Bar… and it was a special treat to meet up with Barb and Milo, as well as Billy and Stephen Stoops!

We got there at about 6:00 to find that Barb and Milo had arrived just before us and secured a front row table on the patio. We looked over the wine selection (which was quite extensive) and ordered a bottle of Bartholomew Cab Sauv after discussing options with our server.

Davine has a wonderful patio area, and live music on  Friday and Saturday nights. Off to the side of the patio was just enough room for some dancing, which we took advantage of several times throughout the evening. The servers interacted with the performers, kept the tables satisfied, and offered great advice on wines, spirits, and appetizers. What a great place to spend the evening!

Just before 7:00 Kurt was setting up on the patio, and greeting the crowd that had gathered. He let us know that Kristen would be a bit delayed, turns out she was stuck on a ferry from Vashon Island that was running late. So Kurt began the evening with some of his personal favorites. We were quickly reminded of why we’d been longing to see Kurt perform again… He is a rare mix of entertaining stage presence with the perfect voice for the songs he performs!

Just a bit later Kristen arrived, got set up and said hello, and the two transitioned to performing together. The mix of vocal, instrumental, and wit that blends between the two makes the show a treat see on all levels!

Come time for a break, Kurt and Kristin asked Billy Stoops if he’d like to perform few numbers, which he did… and did so well!  From the first time we saw Kurt, we’d thought that an evening with he and Billy would be a great paring… and boy were we right! Add Kristin the mix, and it was even better than we would have hoped for.

Kurt and Kristin played until beyond 9:30, taking requests and throwing in personal favorites. It was wonderful night of music, dancing, and being with some great friends.

So, for now, cheers to live music and wine full evenings, catching up with friends and artists that we wish we could see even more often!
