Welcome 2023!

We are so excited to ring in the New Year, and we got to do it at one of our favorite places, Lake City Pub!

At this point most folks are familiar with how much we enjoy getting to dress up to go out. Zeek got new shoes for Christmas, sparkly and black with black rhinestones and chrome! Denice had a dress she had originally returned, unsure if she wanted to wear it, but eventually deciding the bling was perfect for a New Year’s party!

Although getting ready has its risks… It took more than one try for me (Denice) to master applying fake eye lashes. I love using magnetic eye lashes with the corresponding eyeliner. However, every now and then I still have issues applying the liquid eyeliner and then it kinda goes, well, everywhere!

We arrived to LCP early, at 7pm, to grab dinner and spend some time before music started. We’ve talked about the amazing food repeatedly but wanted to share one of Denice’s favorites from the menu. Their house salad contains goat cheese and candied walnuts over arugula. Talk about divine! I (Zeek) made sure we grabbed a pic of it before we got too far into eating. But I forgot to grab a picture of the McDonalds Hash that I was enjoying. I’ve recently given up gluten for a few months, so my signature patty melt order is on pause… But this omelet-esque dish over arugula was amazing!

Kim&Brian were set to perform from 9-midnight! We’ve caught them at Lake City Pub before and their energy is fantastic!

When at Lake City Pub with great music, we of course danced to several songs. The place was packed but there are tons of options for places to dance even when its full!

2022 has been an amazing opportunity to enter this new stage of life, embracing being empty nesters, and finding this new hobby of dancing and going out to our favorite places!

We rang in the New Year together at midnight with a champagne toast! Our daughter joined us until around 11pm and then gave in to go home and sleep. I (Denice) was tired as well, but Zeek was so excited to be out for New Year’s Eve. Sometimes it is easy to say you don’t want to go out and decide not to push past your comfort zone to do something you think is uncomfortable. But I am so grateful to all the things Zeek and I have both said yes to in the last couple years!

I (Zeek) said yes to dance lessons a couple years ago. During the first uncomfortable lesson or two I was so ready to throw in the towel, but Denice was so excited so we kept going and look where it has led! I (Denice) was not thrilled to head to this unfamiliar pub out in Lakewood back in February for a party, and now Lake City Pub is our favorite stop on Saturday nights! As we say goodbye to 2022 and head into 2023, we can’t wait to continue enjoying all the new excitement this stage of life has brought us with our friends and family, and most importantly with each other! And we have loved this opportunity to share it all with you and hopefully encourage each of you to embrace wherever you are in life and say yes to new adventures!

So cheers to 2022, and welcome 2023! We can’t wait to celebrate with you all in the New Year!
