Phew, We’re Exhausted
The week of July 11 through 16 had some great opportunities to be out enjoying the beautiful Pacific North-West summer… and we did all we could!
We’d spent the previous weekend celebrating a birthday, so Monday the 11th was a pretty quiet evening for us. I (Zeek) was off of work on-time, put some gas in my truck (Ouch!) and headed home. My legs were still pretty sore from walking around the hills of Tacoma during the weekend, so a night of hanging out at home was just what I needed.
But Tuesday, the 2nd Tuesday of the month, was wine pick-up night at The Wine Spot in Edgewood. Immediately after getting home from work we were on the road to Edgewood. We got in for tasting at ten minutes before 7:00, greeted Gina, and headed around back. If you’ve seen any of the previous posts from The Wine Spot you know how great that outdoor space in the back is.
Zeek’s favorite red was Twenty Acres Cab Sauv from Clarksburg, CA. A good mouthful of flavor right from the start with rich tobacco type flavors and a hint of leather; a red for those who like it bold.
Denice’s favorite was a 2018 Bodegas Castano, Alcaria Old Vines from Spain. I do find I like me some Spanish wine! I did note a hint of black berry mixed with savory spices which is a unique combination.
We did leave with three bottles because who can pass up good wine for $25.00 a bottle as a member at The Wine Spot!
Wednesday brought a return trip to one of our faves, The Mill featuring the band Monster Road. This band is amazing singing covers from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. This was our second show with them, and it did not disappoint. These songs are everyone’s favorites and perfect to dance to. We got there just as they started but the place was already packed. Just as we were figuring out a place to wait, a wonderful couple invited us to share their table. We met Corinne and Jason at the singer-songwriters event, and they have become fast friends. We are looking forward to sharing more events in the future with great dancing.
We ended the work week at the Twisted Fork Saloon on Point Ruston for our very favorite, Billy Stoops, accompanied by none other than Jim King on saxophone and harmonica. Again, we found ourselves getting there just a bit late due to work schedules and long drives, but it was a joy to meet up with some of our favorite people, Barb, Milo, and Stephen. It makes these events so much sweeter to be able to share tables with great friends, perfect music, fun swing dancing, and wine!
After three days of great events, we stayed home and practiced dance on Friday night but are looking forward to Saturday at Lake City Pub with some wonderful friends. Who can resist great friends, great service, and great food which you will always find at Lake City Pub!
